Thankful

Being what is considered "active" is actually a pretty odd feeling. It means that we are approved to adopt and our profile that we have made for pregnant mom's to look at is being shown.

We are now active with 2 attorney's. One is in our state and the other is in Alabama, a 10 hour drive from our home. The attorney in our state doesn't notify us when our profile is being reviewed by families looking to adopt their baby out so we're not sure how many times, if any, we've been shown.

Our out of state attorney, I have been told, is pretty involved when she shows your profile. We have heard that she will let you know that you are being shown and keep you posted on the situation.

The night of Dec 22nd I got an email from her stating that she had just made it back from a short trip and finally was able to view our profiles we sent her. She said they looked great and she was actually showing them on Dec 23rd to an African American mom due in March with a boy. The feeling we got just KNOWING someone was actually looking at our family was so surreal. I don't think there are words. You actually know how close you are to having a baby.

Of course, she let us know that most of the mom's she works with want closer couples so they can get to know the family and have the family drive them to doctor appts, but actually having a chance at getting picked is such an awesome feeling!

We are so thankful this attorney is even showing our profile! Where we live it's very hard to find adoption situations so we are forced to look in bigger places. The internet can be a dangerous way to do that so our only hope is through our attorney's.

We didn't hear any more on the situation -- which doesn't mean anything bad. It's the holiday and picking a family to raise your child for the rest of its life is not an easy decision to make!
