This past Monday we had our 32 week check up. As i've said before we start 1 week appts now with NST's due to the diabetes. We get there and they keep me on the monitor for over an hour because Mia was showing some decels with movement. She ended up showing enough higher heartrates with movement too so they said there was no need to worry.
Get to my check up portion and my blood pressure is high (first time the whole pg) - 168/110!!! They chalked it up to me moving around and had me lie on my side for 10 mins. Bp then was 168/104 so they started to worry. They decided to leave me on my side for 35 mins and when they came to check my bp was 170/98.
My OB came in and said we were heading straight to the hospital. She wanted labs, growth ultrasound with biophysical profile, and a 24 urine catch. She told us she wasn't sure what all would happen but if it didn't come down we would either stay admitted until delivery or deliver THAT NIGHT. I freaked. It was so scary thinking I was only 32 weeks and all the sudden something was wrong.
We got to the hospital and my bp had dropped a bit. They started my urine catch and took some labs. They finally wheeled us down for the u/s and biophysical. Mia was weighing roughly 4.6 lbs and was in the 58th percent - so we couldn't ask for more on that. The biophysical portion shows the doctor how well she is thriving on the inside with her breathing, kidney function, and my amniotic fluid levels. Things along those lines. Apparently all was well because a few hours later my doctor released me on bedrest.
I was told to finish out the 24 hr urine collection and check my bp 4x's a day. It's been a few days since and they did not see anything wrong with my urine. Plus my bp has been doing great at home so far.
My next appt is this Monday when I will do another NST. It's been an emotional few days and got me to thinking about how things can change in an instant. We definetly don't want to meet Mia this early. In my mind I have now started making personal small goals to help ease my emotions. My first goal is to make it to 35 weeks. : ) My diabetes is being controlled and as long as my bp stays good we should see Mia in about 5-7 weeks!!!
